My Facebook family knows that I have a friend who has been going through something very difficult and I want to share it here, so that all who see this can add to the prayer chain we have going for her family. My friend Kim is around my age. Two years ago this Christmas, I had the luck to help plan her wedding to Brian on Fripp Island, where I used to work in South Carolina. In working with her, I became great friends with her and I met her incredibly loving parents, Joe and Sharon. They visited the island often before and after the wedding and sought me out. They made me feel incredible, like a small part of their family.
As I have traveled this year across America, Kim and Brian have followed my moves and shared news of my travels with the family. Kim and Brian also became pregnant with twins! Kim and I have spoken every few months this year and I have been lucky to call her friend/telephone companion on the road, catching pregnancy updates. I always knew I would visit them, and last week I was getting ready to depart Rhode Island for their home in Pennsylvania.
At 24 weeks along, Kim had to deliver the babies, both boys, due to a severe disorder she developed called HELLP syndrome. The babies were extremely premature and housed in NICU in critical condition. Baby Joey went into distress this Sunday morning and passed away. Baby Barrett remains in the NICU and in critical condition. He will need surgery, likely this week. He is a beautiful boy who needs the prayers of every person who sees this. Please pray as much as you can for this wonderful family. They need strength and light to raise them all up and help them keep on.
Thank you for reading and praying!
Update from Kim: We could not transport Barrett tonight safely to CHOP so they performed the surgery here. He just got done and is stable. He will be transferred as soon as possible to Philly. Please keep praying that he continues to be stable and that life flight will be an option for us tomorrow.
*Pic is their sweet dogs who would not leave Kim’s side. They just wanted to be touching her.
