Dad left yesterday to return to Indiana and Mom, but our memories of this 10-day adventure in NYC will last! For months, I was trying to figure out a way to get Dad here for an extended period of time. He loves history and exploring and I knew he would enjoy some of my favorite places in and around the city. I came up with a plan to fly him here as a Christmas present and miraculously it all came together.
We covered a lot of distance in the tri-state area, thanks to Wilson. (For those who don’t know, Wilson is my beloved Honda CR-V.) From hiking to ice cream in 4-degree temps, we made it from the farthest point in Long Island to the historical halls and campus of West Point. We visited the globe in Corona Park, a relic left over from the World’s Fair in Queens. We walked the streets of Williamsburg Brooklyn after hours loping across NYC to visit the oldest original churches and hotels in the city. I loved showing Dad my city. It’s so much different for me these days, this second time around. Kelly’s NYC Life 2.0 has changed from the original version. My thirties have proven to be VERY different from my twenties and having Wilson in my life makes it easy to get out and explore this incredible land.
Our time together was so special. Here’s a peek at much of what we saw…
